Is this XK-80 in its original state from the manufacturer, or might it have been pre-programmed?

Most X-keys devices can exist in two modes. ControllerMate is only compatible with one of those modes. If it was programmed to have internal macros, then it would need to be unprogrammed to be used effectively with ControllerMate.
