I'm trying to remap my custom built keyboard. When I try and see what keys I want to configurate and I choose "Highlight active controls" CM reads my keyboard wrong. For exemple it reads "J" as "Q" and so on? What´s wrong? This makes it very hard for me to identify which keys I want to make inactive so I can let CM remap them.

Oh, hand I have to restart CM about 3 times to get CM to recognise any activity at all from the keyboard, which makes it even harder to edit the settings Smile

A standard keyboard identifies its keys according to their physical location on the keyboard. Those keys generally match the standard US ANSI keyboard layout.

Keyboards that have other layouts printed on their keys are mapped by the OS to translate the raw key code into a character. Therefore, I can take my standard US keyboard and assign the German keyboard layout and the 'Z' key will then produce 'Y'.

ControllerMate always sees the underlying hardware definition of the key, so it will report activity on the 'Z' key when that button is pushed, regardless of whether the US, German, or some other layout is currently selected in System Preferences.

With a custom keyboard, ControllerMate will simply report the buttons as they identify themselves, regardless of what character they ultimately produce.
